MVP;  if a particular squad/team performed particularly well, and both players are agreed, then a point for MVP can be awarded to the owning players total.  It is possible that both sides may have an outstanding unit, and can agree for mutual awards.

Theme; Theme is defined by several things.  Is a force based on a particular unit/battle?  Is it winter themed with snowy bases?  Or perhaps themed for urban fighting with bases of stone rubble and streets?  This is awarded only once, most likely near the end to give you time to finish your theme.

Best painted will also be voted on near the end with group voting.

Yeah, it is a bit confusing.  Besides the standard victory conditions, like in Key positions, the basic scoring is 1 point for every unit destroyed.  tally up how many of each sides squads were destroyed and compare the results.  A 0-1 point difference is a draw, a 2 point difference is a minor victory or minor loss, a more than 2 point difference is a clear Winner or a clear loss.

So, in my game yesterday,U.S. Airborne vs Italians in Demolition, I won by destroying my opponents base, so scoring is thus;  He destroyed 2 of my squads (Bazooka Team, Light Mortar Team) so he gets two points.  I achieved the objective, and destroyed 5 out of 6 of his units as well. So I had 5 points and a mission win.  ratio is 5-2  I therefore have achieved a clear win.  For the league then, scoring is thus;  I have a Major Win (4 points), no need for a tiebreaker based on destroyed units so thats done.  MVP is decided between players, we didn't have any real outstanding units going rambo across the table so nothing there.  Logistics scoring started yesterday so the only scoring would be for theme, and best painted.  Theme you're only going to get once, painted is by Army every three weeks.

I emailed a copy to Matt.  It’s too big a file to post on here.

I'll be over at the Battlestandard tomorrow to make sure they get a good start.  I figure Matt, and Sean will be able to keep the people who show up at the Portal on the right path.  Missions for week one are Meeting Engagement, Key Positions, and Demolition played on a 4x4 space.  Don't forget to keep track of points for the total event.

Sean you could go for the 7.5cm Infantry gun.  That's pretty much what it's for.  I'll probably be adding a Pack 75 at 1000 as there were a few single guns that managed to land and be put to use during Normandy.

I think the mortar still will be useful.  Sniper's will have uses too, but I'm going to take my chances dropping high angle hell on people instead of snipey plinking.

Jen Wanted to try it out so I sold my US Army to her and bought a mess of Soviets. Going to get some Marines soon too.

A mess of Soviets is about right.  Now you can enjoy my pain

Matt, I think what I need is for you to look at the list (#210 Feudal Samurai)  and see how YOU would build an army from it. I want to see what a fresher set of eyes would choose and how you would play it.

Yeah I realized all that when I reread the rules later myself.  But, New game, new rules.  We'll get there.  And next time I'll get to the buildings first!

Well, there’s not alot of other options to use that 6 points for.  Upgrade 3 units to elite, fortify my camp, I can add one more light cavalry unit, a single Light Artillery unit or a single stampeding herd (scythed chariot)

So with one squad in a transport what's people's opinion on armament. Both squads will probably be 6man (transported one has to be 6).

I could do one squad with all assault rifles, and the other has an LMG and maybe an assault rifle for NCO or some such

I could do one squad with half assault rifles, half SMGs, and then the other can get 2 LMGs

Or I can make the squads more general purpose at least with the LMGs. I could give each squad one and then as many assault rifles as I can in the mobile squad. What's people's thoughts?

Firstly, which transport are you taking that has a limit of 6?

You probably want to go with 1 squad set for maneuver and assault, and 1 set as support.  Just remember, balancing everything to have enough order dice is definitely important.  Load up with too much on a basic squad and you could be short elsewhere if something goes sideways.

Jamie struck and I are diving into 6mm Team Yankee, I’m investing in Marines!

Great!  I'll get you some crayons.  Wouldn't want your little devil dogs to go hungry

So after yesterdays conversations I looked over the Later Samurai list (not much better really).  So I went back to the Feudal and started to think more about terrain and strategy.  Long and short, the Samurai definitely need dense terrain.  But if I pick the max amount, unless I have a strategist, I won't be able to affect any of the terrain.  3 of 4 gives me one move, but is it worth it of an opponent takes the minimum and gets two rolls (Though I do wonder why it doesn't go the other way, minimal amount of terrain 1 roll, 3-4 pieces two rolls).  Planning on using terrain only works if it is placed where it can be used effectively. So, back to the list.

I Corps
Brilliant Corps Commander (Included)
Heavy Cavalry Bow x6
Light Cavalry Bow x2

II Corps
Competent Corps Commander
Heavy Swordsmen 2HW x2
Medium Swordsmen 2HW x4
Medium Swordsmen Bow x2

III Corps
Ordinary Corps Commander
Medium Swordsmen Bow x2
Medium Spearmen Mediocre x4

Fortifications x6

My thought is to plant the Heavier Infantry Corps behind the fortifications with the 2 Bow Units to guard flanks, use the Lighter infantry Corps for Ambush or just stick them in rough terrain to maximize their potential, and use the Cavalry Corps with the light Cavalry to threaten flanks or possibly draw knights away from the main fight.  Still a squishy list, but if I pay it more defensively, my hope is that the fortifications and better use of terrain might mitigate the shortcomings.  I know flanks will be an issue, but I think this might offer a better chance against straight on rushes by elephants, Knights, Cataphracts and anything else that would normally run over the mediums on open ground.

So, after giving your suggestions some thought, I rethought the list a bit.  Here is the latest rewrite;

I Corps
Competent Corps Commander
Pikemen x2
Pikemen, Mediocre x2
Medium Swordsmen, Impact x2
Light Infantry Bow x2

II Corps
Competent Corps Commander
Pikemen x2
Pikemen, Mediocre x2
Medium Swordsmen x2
Light Infantry Sling x2

III Corps
Competent Corps Commander (Included)
Heavy Cavalry, Impact, Elite x2
Heavy Cavalry x4
Light Cavalry Javelin x2

This comes to 200 points exactly. Now, these selections are all the mandatory ones (1-2,1-4, 4-12 for Pike with half needing to be mediocre) for the list.  None are 0-whatever.

My thought is that I and II Corps can mutually support each other while III Corps can either threaten a flank, or counter my opponents Cavalry.  Knights, and elephants will still be a problem for the Cavalry, but aren't they always going to be an issue?
