Did you guys already receive your V4 books?

According to Jon, the store is only going to receive 4 copies of the new rules.  :o

Sounds like a good idea, at the moment I think I can come. Let me try to round up a posse, and put me down as Americans.

Will do 👍

So is CVG sticking to V3?

For this event at the moment.  I want to give people time to digest the new rules more fully before trying a tournament.

Do you have a date for this one, Chris?

Ah yes..sorry about that.  It's May 27th.  This was to hopefully coincide with Professor Slopnick being back in town to participate

Flames of War / Re: First read of v4

Isn't this essentially what is happening with early and late war? Or did you mean for mid war as well?

I'm thinking for all three.  From what I've seen, the new MW lists are going to be very gamey and very light on the historical appeal.

My thought, which seems to be one that is becoming prevailing, is use the v4 rules with the v3 lists.  At least for now.  The problem then becomes one of translating all your unit stats to the version 4 rules for movement, morale, etc.  This means, that in any v4 tournament, having a written copy of your list with stats since data cards are not available for LW/EW, will be very important to ensure everyone is on the same page with all the changes.

Do defenders win if attacker doesn't take objective in attacker/defender mission?

Yes, that hasn't changed.

My other complaint is why three books?  The MW book is hardcover, the EW/LW book and special rules supplement are softcover, but this all could have been in one book.  Instead they print two separate books with the same game mechanics, but the EW/LW book just adds sections on how to convert existing lists to the new format to work within the new rules.  And the extra special rules and Warriors book is a small booklet.  This could have been better as a larger softcover book for ease of read, and just one rulebook for everything.  This is going to make list building extremely annoying for awhile as you have to flip through multiple books to make sure everything is correct when you write/type up a list.  Forces of War will be totally useless until they convert the stats over for the new setup.

This, I suspect is going to be a major sore point for tournament players for awhile.
