Who we are (CVG mission statement)
« on: February 05, 2017, 06:50:09 PM »
Alright troops, gather round and take a knee.  Time to make sure everyone knows who we are and what we do.

CVG started as an idea a few years ago.  Several people who all shared a passion for historical gaming starting to network and wanted to make something more of it.  Local gamer's who enjoy the sense of community and a shared enthusiasm of tabletop gaming.  What started as a loose collection of gamer's, now has grown into a tightly knit community, and what started with a few  people meeting on a regular basis playing one game, has grown into a larger group that has interests spanning in many directions.

We meet both locally, and outside of the area.  Networking with other clubs and organizations to help to continue the growth of our hobby.  We take time to help the curious to learn, and encourage the novice to keep trying and succeed.  We have a collective gaming experience ranging from the newest of members, to veteran's who have stood at the top of their game in many venues.

We promote; Fair play, sportsmanship, creativity, and a family environment that excludes no-one based on age, gender, religious, or political views because here you are a gamer.

CVG started as a group focused one a single game, Flames of War from Battlefront.  But since the beginning there has been a goal of keeping things new and interesting.  In that spirit we have broadened our interests and will continue to do so.  We acknowledge that not every activity will be in everyone's interests, but encourage all members to pursue what they enjoy without fear of being left out or shunned.

Games previously, or currently played by various members of CVG include; Flames of War (to include it's variations including Team Yankee, Fate of a Nation, Vietnam, and the Great War), L'Art de la Geurre, X-Wing, Muskets and Tomahawks, SAGA, Check your Six, Classic Battletech, and many others.

CVG is also open to any game that interested members would like to introduce to the clubs attention.  Such as Bolt Action, Dropzone Commander, Call to Arms, Pikeman's Lament, and so on.

If you are already a member, then you can see how we have continued to grow since you joined us.  To new members who read this, Welcome and glad you joined us.

Alright, I'll see all of you on the high ground.  Dismissed

Look! We're not worried about the German army, we've got enough troubles of our own. To the right General Patton, to the left the British Army, to the rear our own goddamn artillery, and besides all that it's raining.
