Nick's IS-2 Company
« on: April 15, 2017, 09:41:34 PM »
Thanks to all for playing today - nice to see everyone and special thanks to both the prize support team and Chris as always for organizing!

I took one of Zach's suggestions to heart and here's an alternative list build for the one I played today:

Headquarters
 IS-2 obr 1943   FT
- SMG Tank Escort   SMG Tank Escort for IS 2

1.   Command IS-2 obr 1943, 3x IS-2 obr 1943   FT
- .50 Cal AA MG

2.
   Command IS-2 obr 1943, 2x IS-2 obr 1943   FT
- .50 Cal AA MG   .

3.
   Command T-34/85 obr 1943, 4x T-34/85 obr 1943

4.
Command Pioneer Rifle, 5x Pioneer Rifle   FT

OR

Headquarters
 IS-2 obr 1943   FT
- SMG Tank Escort   SMG Tank Escort for IS 2

1.   Command IS-2 obr 1943, 3x IS-2 obr 1943   FT
- .50 Cal AA MG

2.
   Command IS-2 obr 1943, 2x IS-2 obr 1943   FT
- .50 Cal AA MG   .

3.
   Command IS-2 obr 1943, 2x IS-2 obr 1943   FT
- .50 Cal AA MG

4.
Command Pioneer Rifle, 5x Pioneer Rifle   FT

The second option is very much like the list I played today except with 4 platoons instead of 3. The first one might have given Matt more issues in our first match because of numbers - I might not have run out of tanks!

in V4 your list today would work well without any changes. Since platoon count has no bearing on company checks as there are none anymore. I would however diversify if you wanted a more flexible list. I'd maybe try going with platoons of three with infantry and arty. If you wanted to keep most of the tanks, try platoons of four, drop the infantry and add armored cars and arty, katushas should work well.
Well, it's like this. I was on a hill as a battery commander with six anti-tank guns and the Americans kept sending tanks down this road. Every time they sent a tank, we knocked it out. Finally, we ran out of ammunition and the Americans didn't run out of tanks. And that's it in a nutshell.

I thought you had 11 total IS-2. I only count 8 in that list. Did I miss something?

You are correct. I played a list with 3 platoons - 2 with 5 IS-2 each and an overall commander in an IS-2 with the third platoon being pioneers.

The other two lists I posted were second thoughts based on Zach's suggestion that I parse out the tanks a bit to get an even 4 platoons.  In list option 1, there are only 8 IS-2s spread over two platoons and the commander so I can have a 3rd platoon with some t34-85s and a pioneer team.

I think Zach's point that the new version of the game would mean the even number of platoons is moot makes my concerns null but I do like the idea of having a few tanks on the board that can fire more than once per round.

Eh, Those T-34s will die. They have a huge target painted on them.

How about 9x IS-2 with .5cals, 2x Shturmivicks with the cannons(limited), 4x Zis 3 76mm guns with OP as artillery. Sturmis can kill Tiger IIs, Artillery can go after infantry or protect itself from medium tanks. 9x IS-2 can crush most things. This is 1615pts

Alternatively, go with the Hero FA 11 IS-2, Take either 9 of them and 2 shturmivicks with cannons, or take 7 and get some more support/Shturmvicks
